Noah Alveberg: DA'AT
Art exhibition:
Noah and Kjersti Alveberg: KILDE
Noah Alveberg 's art moves in the borderland between humans, nature and something more timeless and mysterious. Through painting, drawing and material-based works, he explores how we are connected to the landscape, the body and the forces around us.
His works are built up of materials such as charcoal, mineral pigments, silver leaf and iron oxide – materials that give the images a physical weight and closeness to nature. The motifs can be reminiscent of landscapes, body parts, animals, solar systems or organic forms in change - and the images are often experienced as both calm and intense at the same time.
Materials play a central role in Alveberg's artistry. They are not only visual tools, but also participate in how the images develop. The iron oxide is sourced from the Snæfellsjökull volcano in Iceland; the cinnabar in some works comes from Mt Amiata in Tuscany. Both are hydrothermal minerals — formed when scorching hot, mineral-rich water rose through the Earth's crust and crystallized as a solid. The same principle underlies Røros' own copper ore.
Through layer upon layer, flow, gravity and chemical reactions, Alveberg's work repeats this process on a smaller scale: flow that becomes form.
Noah Alveberg is an Oslo-based artist born in 1990. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Central Saint Martins in London, and is represented at Galleri Fineart in Oslo.
In Alveberg's art there is an interest in what humans cannot always fully explain – in memories, energy, transformation and connections between the inner and the outer. The works do not provide clear answers, but rather open up space for one's own thoughts and experiences.
Kjersti Alveberg was one of Norway's most prominent choreographers and performing artists, known for her strong visual and poetic expression. She worked closely with the Norwegian Opera & Ballet for several decades and created several major productions for the National Ballet, including the legendary Volven (1989), inspired by Norse mythology, and Reise på drømt hav (2001).
Kjersti Alveberg's ballets are known for their strong visual expression: organic costumes, flowing stage images and an almost meditative atmosphere. Many describe her works as "living paintings", where the costumes and movements were as important as the action.
Dialogue
During Nora Days 2026 , mother and son's works will come together in a completely unique art exhibition!
The title KILDE (Source in English) reflects what mother and son share. The flowing — which is central both in Kjersti's choreography as "living paintings" and in Noah's work with minerals and currents.
Experience Noah Alveberg's visual art in close dialogue with his mother's costumes. Some of Kjersti Alveberg's iconic costumes from the ballets Babels Barn (1998) and Reise på drømt hav (2001) have been loaned from the Norwegian Opera and Ballet for this very special occasion!
The exhibition DIALOG invites the audience into a visual universe that is about origin, movement and presence – about what we come from, and what we are still a part of. A visual and emotional universe.

An evening with the artist Noah Alveberg
- Saturday, August 1st at 6:00 PM
- artist talk and film screening
Meet the artists Noah Alveberg. We promise a conversation that is completely out of the ordinary.
The same evening, a film adaptation of the ballet Reise på drømt hav will be shown, a full-length ballet by Kjersti Alveberg that premiered at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet in 2001. The work was inspired by the universe of visual artist Terje Ythjall and is described as a poetic and visually strong performance where dance, scenography, lighting and costumes merged into a dreamlike whole.
Fondahuset and Art & Chaos
During the Nora Days, Trygve and Rolf open the doors to their private home, Fondahuset, in Røros; the large functionalist villa in Konstknektveien where Jane Fonda lived during the filming of the film A Doll's House in 1972.
Nora Days is a collaboration between the two cultural actors Fondahuset and Kunst & Kaos in Røros. Nora Days receives financial support from RørosBanken and Ren Røros .
All events take place in and around the large functionalist villa Fondahuset at Konstknektveien no. 68 in Røros. There is limited parking at the house. If you do not have the opportunity to walk, we recommend parking at Storstuggu Culture and Conference Center.
